Ace Rothstein and Nicky Santoro, mobsters who move to Las Vegas to make their mark, live and work in this paradoxical world. Seen through their eyes, each as a foil to the other, the details of mob involvement in the casinos of the 1970’s and ’80’s are revealed. Ace is the smooth operator of the Tangiers casino, while Nicky is his boyhood friend and tough strongman, robbing and shaking down the locals. drama exam in 2 weeks, some of my cast aren't practicing. what should i do?
Sorry if this is a bit long. Please bear with me, this will boil down to three simple questions.

We are in junior year university (communication major), so this is a final exam to take grades for this semester. For this exam I am directing and acting in a 30 minute all female adaptation of Spring Awakening to be performed by 5 girls (Wendla, Martha, Anna, Ilse, and Frau Bergmann). This performance is part of a Mini Broadway Marathon event hosted by our major, which will feature other diminutive adaptations of broadway plays by other teams of 5.

Normally we are on a semester break now till early March, but since this is a mini production exam, it is set on 23 February right in the middle of our holiday. Our Martha is home in another state across the country for Chinese New Year (it’s usually the only time of the year she gets to visit her parents). I’m not too worried about her because she’s a dilligent actor who studies her script and performs well on stage.

Our Ilse has IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and often misses practice without notice because of her upset stomach. She also works odd hours as a private ballet teacher, and it gets rather annoying when she makes everybody schedule practices around her schedule because her job is the least flexible out of everybody else’s. To make things worse, she is our weakest actor. But we need her because she will be dancing the crucial scenes of "The Dark I Know Well" (when Ilse and Martha tell about how their fathers abuse them) and Moritz’s funeral.

This play consists of 7 scenes. Wendla (my character) appears in scene 1-6. Martha and Anna appear in scene 1, 3, 5, and 7. Ilse appears in scene 3, 5, and 7. Frau Bergmann only appears in scene 6 and is co-directing with me).

So we have less than 15 days to practice. Martha is unavailable until D-day minus two and yet we have a general rehearsal with the rest of our class 8 days from now. We’re finding Ilse rather uncooperative but her excuse seems like something we can’t do anything about as it concerns her health and her source of income. So that means that we have only Wendla, Anna and Frau Bergmann practicing full time, and every now and then a struggling Ilse who reads her lines more like a newscaster rather than a bohemian runaway.

If kicking Ilse out of the team would be impossible (due to the scarcity of strong dancers in our campus… otherwise, to do without would require us changing the entire script), then what must we do to make her cooperate? Normally I’d be very strict in implementing rewards and punishments, but I can’t think of any effective ones right now. Besides, the five of us are always together in class projects, and Ilse sacrifices a lot to make sure that our academic assignments are in place and in five star condition; so I’m reluctant about hammering her down on performance subjects.

How should we deal with Martha on a long distance basis to make sure that she catches up with the team once she comes back? Her overall acting is so far so good, but her final scene needs a lot of redefinition and polishing.

And lastly, how do we even progress with half of our team missing?

I know your feeling…. I passed through this experience and I was so annoyed
Ok see what can you do :

-You can train each person alone on his role and then make a day that all of them are prepared and make a good try outs.
    OR
-tell them the causes of their negligence and exaggerate alit bit!

I am happy that I could help!!
    Princess Polo | Feb 07, 2010

Wow - I don’t envy you one little bit!!

It can be really tough working with friends on productions, especially when you have to see them everyday in class etc, but I can safely say that if they acted the way they are now out in the real world they would be sacked!

At the end of the day this should be their priority - you’ve only got 15 days and that’s not long at all.

If I were you I’d sit everyone down to have a meeting and stress how important it is that you all get some decent rehearsal time together. Tell them you know they all have other commitments, which is fine, but this will all be over in two weeks, so they’ll all just have to put in a little extra effort, maybe even re-arrange stuff. It

    IMDB rating: 7.00

Plot: “It wasn’t a particularly good story, but I liked the atmosphere of Berlin after the war, and I wanted to work again with James Mason.” Thus did director Carol Reed explain his decision to return to thrillers with The Man Between. Unfortunately, political conditions forced Reed out of Berlin before shooting wrapped, compelling him to complete the picture in the studio. Even so, the story of East Berliner Ivo Kern (Mason) who rescues Susanne Mallison (Claire Bloom), a British woman trapped in the Soviet Zone, is a minor masterpiece of suspense. Despite great danger to himself, Kern takes it upon himself to escort Mallison back to her family in West Berlin. After a daring dash through the countryside, the seeming impossible is achieved—but only through a conspicuous act of self sacrifice. Never completely satisfied with The Man Between, Carol Reed grudgingly admitted “It made back its money.”

i'm torn between my "family" church and a new way of life?
Since I was younger I was forced to go to a Pentacostal church that my mom went too and it wasn’t till I got older till I found out alot of truth from the trinity misconception, to the hell misconception, the tithing misconception just alot of things that are hidden to people unless they find out themselves even going as far as getting an old version of the bible then you will really be shocked to see how much man added stuff in the bible that wasn’t there. www.tentmaker.org.
That being said I continued with my spiritual journey. As the weeks passed by I would sit in the pew feeling sad that the Pastor would give all this doctrine, nothing good in it just yelling, stand up, sit down, oh yeah and "God wants you to love…and oh follow holiness"..while the youth look confused and most people would feel sad about themselves, and I spoke to the congregation how I saw a divide in this world and we need more love and peace and unity…and they clapped but when i realized how that may have been inappropriate I backed down. Ever since then I haven’t gone to church and my mom keeps telling me God isn’t pleased with that but I don’t think she can speak 4 God.I don’t know what to do….I kinda miss the people there, but not the messages and how the church is going.. the Pastor just last week preached on turning off the tv from any artist that is not Christian now when my mom sees a secular artist she despises them….it just hurts my heart …and my mom even told him I would be a youth leader to get me to stay but whats the point if I have totally different views?? I’m confused =/ what would you do?

The Trinity is true. And that "tentmaker" site is all false teachings.

The truth is that Jesus is God, and the Trinity is true, and salvation is only by believing in Jesus for free salvation! That simple! John 3:16! Salvation is a free gift! Salvation is not by "being holy enough". Salvation is only by believing in Jesus for free salvation!

Eternal torment and separation from the Lord in the lake of fire is real. Nobody has to be sent to the lake of fire. Believe in Jesus for free salvation, and you will never be sent there

Jesus died on the cross to pay for all our sins! And then Jesus rose from the dead! :D

Jesus loves you so very much! :D

The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to hell, is by believing in Jesus for salvation, believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died on the cross for all our sins as FULL PAYMENT for all our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe in Jesus alone for salvation, and you will be in heaven, no matter what!

Salvation is a FREE GIFT that happens in a split second when you believe in Jesus alone to save you! It is impossible to lose or "leave" salvation (John 6:39-40, John 10:28, 1 John 5:13).

Please pray now: "Jesus, I believe that You died on the cross to pay for my sins and that You rose from the dead, and I thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die! :D David | Feb 02, 2010

It’s called growing up. The more you practice making your own decisions now, the better your life will be in the long run.

So what exactly are you wanting? Do you want to go to a new church? Try different sects? Renounce your religion?

You need to talk to your mom about this. It was hard for me, because my parents were both conservative Baptists, so I know where you’re coming from. I’m not slurring conservative Baptists or religious people, but whenever opposite minds meet, conflicts are to be had. Anyway, just talk to your mother and be open and honest. Tell her you value how much she cares about you and understands that she only wants to see you make what she thinks is the right decision. But let her know that you are old enough to think for yourself–just be mature about statements like that, don’t get huffy. In the end, it is your life and it is up to you to decide what you want to do with it. If your mother loves you (as I’m sure she does), she will respect your decisions.

As for missing the people of your church, why not give them a call? If it’s the youth, invite them over to hang out or something. If it’s older members you’re familiar with, just call or write them and ask them over for dinner.

Good luck, and I hope you find a path that works for you. :-) The Liberal Atheist | Feb 02, 2010

if you still have a faith then go somewhere else…but htere are always going to be doctrines in church we dont like or agree with-if these contradict the core of the gospel then go somewhere else! but you are never going to get the perfect doctrine!

the tentmaker website is crap btw! it promotes universalism that is the polar opposite to the teachings of Jesus! you just have to read the passage re nicodimus (sp) to know that Jesus wasnt saying everyone would be saved!

    1. Rule of Thumb: Don’t believe everything you read on the net or in the newspapers/media, etc.
    2. Rule of Thumb: God’s Word is always the bottom line.

God’s word says to "Obey your Parents" (see Exodus 20; Matthew 15:4-6; Mark 7:10; Luke 18:20)

Petition your prayers up to God.
Question man’s world views & compare it to the bible to see if it’s true.
God will lead you in the right path according to His will if you keep looking to Him.

Is the Watchmen Ultimate Collection being released in June worth it?
I just got the Director’s Cut on Blu-Ray today, and I’m pissed to see that they’re advertising for a better version that I wasn’t aware of.
So yeah, right now I have the two-disc Blu-Ray with the digital copy and the narrated motion comic. I plan to pick up Tales of the Black Freighter soon.

But right now, the Ultimate Collection seems to just be the three of those things. It says five-discs, which could be
1)The movie, with Tales of the Black Freighter woven in
2)Special Features with Under the Hood from Tales of the Black Freighter
    3)Digital Copy
    4) and 5) The motion comic (It’s two-disc)

So that’s three of the bullet points in the advertisement down.
I’ve yet to see the special features on my copy of the movie, but is it an hour and a half of content? If it is, and Under the Hood is about half an hour (or so I’ve heard), does that make up for the two hours of content?
I haven’t tried out Blu-Ray live at all yet, but it looks to me like commentary? Is it? And is it the last bullet point?

Obviously, this is all speculation, and biased, optimistic speculation at that. But is there any chance that I could be right?

The Ultimate Collection doesn’t come out until December. If you bought the Director’s cut you should have gotten a 10 dollar coupon. It’ll be worth it.

Stores typically begin bringing on temporary workers in October to handle the crush of Christmas shoppers. But this year retailers expect hiring will be slow — when it occurs at all. According to consulting firm Hay Group, about 40 percent of retailers plan to reduce the number of people hired by as much as a quarter. Meanwhile, the growing unemployment rate has prompted more people to fill out applications.

"Retailers are planning for a challenging Christmas season," said Craig Rowley, vice president of Hay’s retail practice. "That said, retailers have their fingers crossed that they are wrong."

Retail jobs account for about 11 percent of the U.S. workforce, according to government data. The industry has shed nearly 600,000 positions in the past year as retailers grappled with declining sales.

That has helped push the national unemployment rate to 9.8 percent in September. Though the unemployment rate in the Washington region fell in August, to 6.0 percent from 6.2 percent the previous month (in figures that are not seasonally adjusted), the improvement was driven by an increase in government jobs and contracting. The region continued to lose jobs in the retail sector.

The job losses have created a vicious cycle in which retailers curtail hiring because of poor sales, and shoppers cut back spending because they fear for their jobs.

"We are in a period of flux, no question," said John Challenger, chief executive of Challenger, Gray & Christmas, an outplacement consulting firm.

The vortex began last year when the economy crumbled just before the start of the holiday shopping season. The stock markets plunged, and consumers clamped their wallets shut, sending retail sales into a tailspin. Stores were stuck with shelves of merchandise ordered long before the financial crisis, but they were able to cut costs by slashing their workforce.

Retailers chopped the number of new hires last year by 47 percent, to 384,300, the smallest number in two decades, according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas. The average number of staffers added during the holidays is 680,590.

The industry took a bigger hit after the holiday season as retailers shut down stores that did not perform well, shed seasonal hires and laid off workers. Macy’s and Home Depot both cut about 7,000 jobs. Circuit City was forced out of business, leaving 30,000 workers without jobs.

"Labor is the most adaptive of the resources in their production equation," said Robert Yerex, chief economist at Kronos, a workforce consulting firm. "When it comes to people, they can be much more flexible."

But as retail sales have stabilized following last year’s dramatic declines, so has staffing. According to Kronos, the number of hires rose slightly each month through August, and more people are holding on to those jobs.

A recent survey by consulting firm BDO Seidman of chief financial officers at major retailers showed that 38 percent considered layoffs the most effective cost-cutting tool this year. But for future cuts, more companies said they are planning to reduce inventory and slow expansion rather than rely on layoffs. About 83 percent of executives surveyed predicted an economic turnaround by the second quarter of next year.

Challenger said he expects retail hiring this holiday to pick up slightly compared with last year, but with the unemployment rate at a 26-year high, competition for available jobs is expected to be intense. He estimated that 9.2 million people who are working part-time jobs are looking for full-time work, roughly double the number at the start of the recession.

"My sense of it is that it’s not going to be as bad as it was last year," he said. "But I don’t think we’ve come way up from there."

ok so here is the story
me and my ex (a couple ex’s back) were making out on my bed so she touched me to let me know she was in the mood, so i started to leave the room when she asked "where are you going?" and i responded "none of your business thats where" you know jokingly smiling, so when i came back in she was like "whats the headband for?" i was like "i dont want sweat in my eyes" so i walk over to the night stand and open the drawer and she says "awww your so thoughtful getting a condom" i chuckle and place the mouth piece in. so she says "ok i get the mouthpiece and sweatband, but why the cleats?" i quickly say traction.
she quickly gets into position when i walk up close and i think, i dont just wanna go in and out. im gonna rock the boat, so i go side to side…. and during the climax i strike off two roman candles and whisper in her ear "im celebrating you"

TEN POINTS IF YOU HELP!!! :) Express 3 + 2i in polar form?

Plot 3 + 2i on the complex plane. Upon doing so, you have a right triangle with base 3 and height 2.

    We know that:

    a + bi = |a + bi| * (cos ? + i sin ?)
    ==> a + bi = |a + bi| * cis(?)

Where ? is the angle that a + bi makes with the positive real x-axis.

From SOHCAHTOA, we see that ? = arctan(2/3). Also:

    |3 + 2i|
    = v(3^2 + 2^2)
    = v13

    Therefore:

    3 + 2i = v13 * cis[arctan(2/3)]

    I hope this helps!
